​​​​​​12.11.3 Access to National Roads

National policy in relation to access to national roads is set out in the Spatial Planning and National Road Guidelines (2012) and followed here. The Guidelines state that “The policy of the Planning Authority will be to avoid the creation of any additional access point from new development or the generation of increased traffic from existing accesses to national roads to which speed limits greater than 60kmh apply. This provision applies to all categories of development, including individual houses in rural areas, regardless of the housing circumstances of the applicant[2].

It is the intention of the Planning Authority to develop and agree a policy for access off the national roads in conjunction with the TII;

  • Blanchfieldslands near Hebron house roundabout on the N10.
