Kilkenny County Council, in association with the Department of Transport are progressing
the ‘Kilkenny City North Transport Project’.

Come Join us for our 1st consultation event on 3rd March in the Mayfair Library between 10:00am and 8:00pm.

This will give people the opportunity to learn about the project and understand how the project team will assess and compare potential transport options

Feedback can also be provided using the feedback form provided. 

The latest time and date for receipt of submissions as part of this consultation is 5.00pm on  3rd April 2026.

Further consultations will be held as the scheme progresses. 

This project will explore and appraise a range of feasible transport options for the north
side of Kilkenny City, with the aim of identifying a preferred option that can address existing
challenges and support the sustainable development of the city.

The planning and development of the Kilkenny City North Transport Project will follow the
Department of Transport’s Transport Appraisal Framework (TAF) and the Public Spending
Code.

The Current phase of the Project is Phase 2 Options Development,
Assessment & Selection

Option Selection will develop a broad range of feasible transport options.
During this phase, physical, environmental, land use, and transport constraints will be
examined and incorporated into the appraisal process.

Options will be assessed using criteria including; economy, safety, environment,
accessibility and social inclusion, integration, and physical activity. The outcome of
Phase 2 will be the identification of a Preferred Option for further detailed development
