Loughmacask Sustainable Links Project - Preliminary Public Consultation

Closed25 Feb, 2026, 10:00 - 9 Apr, 2026, 17:00

Primary tabs

Kilkenny County Council propose to deliver a high-quality transport solution that provides a link between the R693 Freshford Road and R695 Kilmanagh Road.

This is in line with Objective R7 of the Kilkenny City & County Development Plan 2021-2027 stating

"To progress the route selection, planning and development of a road connecting
the R695 Kilmanagh Road to the R693 Freshford Road"

Ultimately, the project aims to address the growing needs of Kilkenny City. This project is part of a broader effort to enhance sustainable mobility, reduce congestion, and improve connectivity within the Kilkenny city and Loughmacask Masterplan area.

The project will include conducting detailed assessments, transport modelling, environmental surveys and a rigorous route option identification and selection process to confirm the preferred
option. However, as a first step we are carrying out this preliminary public consultation to gather key feedback and local knowledge that will inform the subsequent stages.

Come join us for the Preliminary public consultation March 12th in the Mayfair Library, Kilkenny 17:45 to 19:45

The latest time and date for receipt of submissions as part of this consultation is 5.00pm on  9th April 2026.

Further consultations will be held as the scheme progresses.
