NOTICE OF PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT BY A LOCAL AUTHORITY
Under Section 179 of the Planning and Development Acts 2000 as amended Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 as amended Location: 62 Barrack Street, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny
In accordance with Part 8, Article 81 of the above Regulations, Kilkenny County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to carry out the following works at 62 Barrack Street, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny The proposed development consists of the refurbishment of the existing two storey structure and change of use of the ground floor commercial unit to provide a 2-bedroom dwelling; the demolition and partial demolition of existing rear extensions and outbuildings; the construction of 2no. two storey structures on site providing 4no. 1-bedroom apartments and all associated site works at No. 62 Barrack Street, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny, which is a Protected Structure, Ref: C694. The site is located in the Castlecomer Architectural Conservation Area. The proposed development will be on a phased basis as follows; Phase 1 – refurbishment and change of use of the protected structure, to include demolition and partial demolition of rear returns and outbuildings. Phase 2 – construction of 4no. 1-bedroom units and associated landscaping.
The latest date for receipt of comments on the above scheme is 5pm on 26th January 2026. Submissions should be clearly marked “62 Barrack Street, Castlecomer Part 8 Planning Submission”
