Section 38 for  Enhanced Pedestrian Facilities and Traffic Calming Measures in Urlingford
 

Municipal District of Castlecomer

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 as amended by the Public Transport Regulation Act, 2009 (Section 46), Kilkenny County Council gives notice of its intention to carry out works in Urlingford Village consisting of the following:

  • Provision of a new pedestrian crossing with raised zebra crossing controlled with belisha beacons at a location adjacent to the Lumper Lane(LT 18121) and Main St (R639) Junction 
  • Provision of a new pedestrian crossing with raised zebra crossing controlled with traffic control signals at a location adjacent to the R689 and Main St (R639) Junction 
  • Conversion of the pedestrian crossing from traffic control signals to a zebra crossing controlled with belisha beacons at a location east of the New Road(LP 1812) and Main St (R639) Junction

The proposals are available from Friday, 12th of September, 2025:

  • On the website, https://consult.kilkenny.ie under ‘Make a Submission’ on the right-hand side 
  • At the Castlecomer Area Office, Kilkenny Road, Castlecomer from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm 

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development dealing with the proper planning and development of the area in which the development will be carried out may be 

Submissions should be clearly marked “Traffic & Pedestrian Safety Measures Urlingford” and received before 4 pm on Friday 26th September 2025.  Please note late submissions will not be accepted.
