Speed Limit at the dangerous blind exit from the Roadstone Quarry entrance road onto the N24 at New Aglish

Ábhair:

We the residents of New Aglish would like to petition Kilkenny County Council to adjust the speed limits on the N24 Waterford Limerick Road at the Roadstone Quarry entrance at New Aglish from the current limit of 100KM/h to 80Km/h under the grounds of Health and Safety.

This stretch of road is used frequently by:
• Local Residents for access,
• Very Large Trucks using the Quarry

The junction is particularly hazardous due to the hill that approaches the turn. When trying to enter the N24, when looking to the right the maximum visibility is 150 metres as there is a hill that slopes downwards. This hill makes it impossible to see any vehicles approaching the junction at a speed of 100KM/h until it is to late. There has been many near misses in the last year as the quarry is getting busier and busier and if it wasn't for the inevitable avoiding action taken by vehicles there would be numerous accidents daily.

Main opinion:

Road speed limit is excessive approaching the junction.

Main requests:

Reduce the speed limit in the area of the junction from 100KM/h to 80KM/h.

Main reasons:

Health and Safety of all users of the road.

A serious accident is inevitable as the quarry gets busier.
