It was with great surprise and disappointment recently that I noticed when I read the ‘Draft Development Plan’ for Callan Town that the lands at Bolton which had been Zoned as Industrial in the previous plan had now been changed back to Agricultural. My name is Mick Power and I am Secretary of CANDIDA which is an industrial development group for the Callan area. CANDIDA which is a group with a proven track record on Industrial development in Callan made a bold step in 2006 and purchased 9.22 acres from Michael Funchion who was the owner of the Zoned Industrial lands at Bolton for a hefty price which reflected industrial land values at the time. We have been in constant contact with Kilkenny Co. Co. over the years in relation to our plans for this site and in relation to the proposed road which travels through this area our last meeting was with the County Manager Colette Byrne who can verify our intent. I am attaching two maps (A). The outline of our purchase from Mr Funchion and (B). The outline of our proposed Development which includes the proposed new Co. Co. Roadway where we are willing participants in this plan.
I would now ask Kilkenny Co. Co. to review what they have proposed and change the lands which they have re-zoned agricultural in relation to CANDIDA ownership back to Industrial.
Regards
Mick Power
