Draft Ballyragget Masterplan

Hi,

I have the following observations to make re Ballyragget Development plan

  1. The proposal to cut parking in the square is not advisable. Ther are not enough parking spaces for some businesses and residents in the square at present. The green area we have is perfect for ballyragget.
  2. The proposed new parking area for the town will be of no benefit. It’s too far away for most people.
  3. Speed ramps should be put in at bottom of hill as traffic comes in from Durrow direction and also on Kilkenny side.
  4. The exit from Riverside estate is very dangerous, especially when cars are parked close to the junction. There is a blind spot here which means that people exiting Riverside cant see traffic coming from Kilkenny.
  5. The super Valu car park is lethal. There is a possibility of providing parking there across the road beside the parish house and into car park behind Chinese restaurant. Traffic lights would have to be at Super Valu.
  6. The old bridge going towards freshford should be closed to vehicular traffic. It can be done and still provide access to landholders. In the winter there would be a lovely walk down around this bride and back to the new bridge provide the footpath were upgraded and proper lighting.
  7. The old schoolhouse should be purchased by cpo as it is falling into disrepair. It could be renovated for centre of some sort.
  8. The footpath out past Grove Tce needs to be widened. Very dangerous for two people walking.

Regards,

John Phelan
