The council have not listened to the public in relation to the Mayfair Buliding. It was evident at both public consulations that there was little support for keeping this building. Recommendation number 7 of the Brewery Re-Visioning Report was to review retention of the Mayfair, Brewhouse and Maturation Buildings. This Masterplan acknowledges in the 'Conservation' chapter that it is of little architectural significance externally or internally and what merit it has lies in its social heritage. But surely the public are best placed to decide if the social heritage of this building merits keeping it? Removing the Mayfair would open up sight lines to the Abbey which is of far greater heritage significance. I would like the retention of the Mayfair removed from the masterplan.
