Social Enterprise is a business model that puts people and community first, ahead of private or personal gain, while operating in a commercially viable and sustainable way.  Many organisations/community groups/charities in Kilkenny are already operating within this definition of Social Enterprise.  An enhanced Social Enterprise sector in Kilkenny can help develop positive outcomes in every single action area of the LECP, i.e. :

Social enterprises are often small, with limited access to resources such as financial, sales/marketing, design, legal and IT, and, for those who produce their own product, they may also be constrained by lack of access to retail outlets.

A Social Enterprise Support Hub in Co. Kilkenny could provide existing and new social enterprises in the county with the skills and support they need in order to get up and running, grow and succeed.

The LECP should include an objective to establish a Social Enterprise Support Hub in Co. Kilkenny.
