We welcome the proposal to have targeted test excavation works to inform the design process of the garden. Removal of the concrete slab would facilitate both planting and excavation works.
We also welcome the proposed provision of a temporary walkway through the central archaeological area so that the public can visually connect with the archaeological investigations.
We support the recommendations to stabilize, conserve and sensitively incorporate protected structures and archaeological monuments into the riverside garden e.g. the ‘sentry style’ Tea House, Evan’s Tower, wall walk and the mill.
