Sirs
Please listen to the people of Kilkenny for once!
While I welcome the opportunity to contribute on this plan, I am disappointed at the timing. The run up to Christmas is inappropriate.
That said, my comments on the 'Abbey Quarter Draft Urban Design Code' are as follows:
I object to the proposal , because it puts off starting agreed housing on the North end of the site indefinitely, and I want housing started there now:
I object to the North end of the site being used as bus/car park, even on a temporary basis, as this is contrary to the plan already agreed and in place:
I object to the bus/car parking on the basis of the environmental degradation attaching to it especially in this location:
I object to any development starting on the site without the results of full archaeological investigations being made public and debated publicly first:
I object to the use of concrete to cover the archaeology;
I object to the type of building foundations suggested, as this seems designed to minimise archaeological investigation and will also have the effect of raising heights on the site:
I object to a primary school on the site, as the area is unsuitable:
I object to the numbers and possible locations of hotels proposed as these will only damage existing businesses:
I object to giving ownership and control development blocks, to a private, unaccountable company:
I support housing, third level undergraduate education, green space and social development on the site, but actions that support the proposed code do not prioritise these.
Signed,
Lisa Walsh
