I am directed by the Minister for Housing and Urban Development to refer to your recent
correspondence in relation to the above and set out hereunder observations on behalf of the
Minister.

The Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government recommends the inclusion of land
use zoning objectives for the three settlements of Piltown, Fiddown and Gowran as incorporated
into the County Development Plan with a view to reviewing the zoning objectives of the twelve
other settlements, if required.

The Department also notes that land use zoning objectives for Ballyragget are included in the
current County Development Plan and supports the settlement boundary extension subject to
compliance with the overall county development plan core strategy.
