Map 13 Johnstown

Caibidil:

I would appreciate if you considered moving the current speed limit zone on entering and leaving Johnstown on the R435 and extended the 60kph limit beyond its current location towards Seven Sisters. This would then include 2 sharp bends in the road, which severely limit visibility in the safer 60kph zone

The section of the R435 where the speed changes from 60 to 80kph currently is on a sharp bend and this presents challenges to anyone trying to anticipate traffic travelling at speed when driving out from properties (including ours) along this section of road.

In addition, this section of the R435, from where the speed change included the route to the Spa Hill, a popular walking route for locals and others. The section is currently without paths beyond our house. The route would be safer if, in the absence of paths, speed was reduced to allow pedestrians to navigate crossing the road more safely

Further up the R435 there is a second sharp bend at the junction of the road leading up the Spa Hill (un-named on Google Maps). Reduced traffic speed at this point would facilitate walkers using this path and allow them to navigate this blind corner more safely in the face of oncoming traffic.

All issues are compounded at dusk and overnight by the absence of street lighting beyond our house. Again, slower traffic would help make this section of road safer for motorists and pedestrians.

Main opinion:

Need to extend 60kph zone on the Kilkenny Road (R435) on leaving Johnstown

Main requests:

Please consider extending the current 60kph zone on the R435 Kilkenny Road further out of the village of Johnstown

Main reasons:

1. The presence of 2 sharp bends just beyond the existing 60kph zone which present a risk to pedestrians using this popular walking route

2. The absence of pathways along this stretch of road

3. The absence of lighting along this stretch of road
