With the proposed speed limit changes from the Village of Stoneyford to Ennisnag village. This would be the perfect opportunity to alter the speed limit on the L4206 - Stoneyford to Mount Juliet/Thomastown road.
The school population and staff numbers have increased in size over the past number of years, with a two class room extension constructed in 2015 (planning ref 12141) and a new three class room extension about to commence construction in 2022 - (planning ref - 21150)
With the current speed limit of 50kmph and the increased traffic on this road makes it imperative to have the speed limit reduced in order to safe guard the safety of the school children, families and staff of Stoneyford national school.
The current 50kmph sign is in fact located just 45meters from the school gate on the L4206, and is on a bend , this has causes numerious near misses over the years with cars having to break hard to stop at the school pedestrian crossing located adjecent to the school gate.
The speed limit reduction distance needs to be increased by approx 120meters towards Mount Juliet.
