Speed Limit Review Request

We reside in Newtown Gaulsmills which is a built up residential area in an 80 km per hour speed zone without footpaths.

Coming in our direction from Ferrybank there is a 50 km zone but this ends at Smartscastle just before a very dangerous bend, a Y junction and the Shanty Bar.

The road between our residence and the Shanty Bar is extremely dangerous as this section includes dangerous bends, there are limited views of the road ahead and there is no grass margin for pedestrians to step onto. There have been numerous accidents in the vicinity of our residence.

During the busy farming season a lot of very large tractors with very wide attached machinery use these roads and these are frequently driven at very high speeds.

Also other vehicles especially motorbikes often travel this road at very high speeds.

We are therefore of the opinion that the 50 km speed limit should be continued all the way out to Bishops Hall and that speed ramps be installed similar to what has recently been installed in Mullinabro to great effect. This could save lives.
