I welcome the public realm improvements for the Kieran St / Market Square are and am generally impressed with the quality of the design and materials proposed.
My one observation having used similar furniture on Ormonde St is the lack of retractability for the awnings / canopies. It would be nice if not preferable for flexibility to have been allowed for in the street furniture on Ormonde St and subsequently for the proposed scheme, as on cold sunny days the furniture is rendered unusable due to the cold, not to mention those who like to catch some sun during the summer which is the vast majority of the Irish people.
Flexibility and retractability will bring the best of both worlds to the end user which is inevitably is a win - win for Kilkenny City.
