Sixth Schedule 80km/h

Ábhair:

It is my understanding that the Kilkenny County Council plan to reduce the speed limit on the road from the Quarry Roundabout at Grannagh to the LAst house at Ballygriffin, from 100kmh to 80 kmh

Although in my personal opinion the Speed limit in this area is not the only danger, I certainly feel that the Speed limit should most definitely extend well past the Roadstone Junction at New Aglish.

I use the road from Kilmacow daily for work and the speed at which traffic approach the junction from the Mooncoin side is an accident waiting to happen, there are heavy vehicles emerging from that junction constantly. Roadstone trucks, tractors etc. A car cannot pick up enough speed when it leaves this junction, let alone a heavy vehicle. there is no visibility coming up that hill and no warning signs to alert you to the fact you are approaching a busy junction.

The traffic are now continuing down the hard shoulder towards Grannagh in an effort to avoid Collision but this is causing worse problems with overtaking and not to mention serious dangers to pedestrians.

The proposed speed limit should extend well past this junction with possible rumple strips, ramps. whatever is necessary to SLOW DOWN that approaching traffic.

I firmly believe this is not enough. there needs to be a roundabout or some other method discussed for this treacherous stretch of road. I fear however that it may be too late by the time you stand up and listen to the people of the area.
