Brandondale House

Kilkenny Co Co. granted planning permission for the development of Brandondale House as a provider of overnight accommodation. The draft LAP acknowledges the need to support the development of Brandondale House as a provider of overnight accommodation. The land to the south west of Brandondale House and which is part of the lands attached to Brandondale House is currently zoned residential (low density). The draft LAP proposes to rezone to agricultural which in the view of the owners of Brandondale House will have a negative impact on the feasibility of the Brandondale House as an overnight accommodation provider. Zoning that allows for development will support the overall development of Brandondale house in that it will enable the owners to accommodate staff and increase guest capacity while maintaining the architectural integrity of the house and grounds which are listed structures.
Main requests:
We request that the land to the south west of Brandondale House not be zoned agricultural but instead be zoned in a way that supports the building of structures that can facilitate an increase in guest capacity and provide accommodation for staff and the owners of Brandondale House.

The feasibility of Brandondale House as a provider of overnight accommodation and events venue is dependent on guest capacity. Zoning that allows for the expansion of overnight accommodation and guest capacity and provides for residence for owners and staff will support the development of Brandondale house and its contribution to tourism and employment in Graignamanagh.
